1 Scope
This British Standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for the design and manufacture of cardboard baby boxes containing a mattress intended for use by babies who are unable to sit up or roll over unaided.
This British Standard is not applicable to other articles which can be included in a baby box (see A.3).

10.4 Instructions for use
10.4.1 Warnings
Instructions shall be supplied with the product for safe use and maintenance and headed:“IMPORTANT – Read the instructions carefully before use and keep for future reference” The instructions shall contain the following warnings: .
NOTE The word “WARNING” can be given at the top of a list of warnings or precede each individual warning.
a)“WARNING: To avoid risk of suffocation, remove and safely dispose of any plastic packaging”;
b)“WARNING: Stop using the product as soon as the baby starts to try to sit up by itself or roll over and push up on its hands and knees”;
c) “WARNING: Only use on a firm surface which is horizontal, level and dry. Do not incline by any means the box or mattress”;
d)“WARNING: Do not put on a raised surface”;
e)“WARNING: Do not leave other children or pets unattended near the baby box’ ;
f)“WARNING: Do not use if any part of the baby box is damaged, damp, wet, torn or missing”;
g) “WARNING: Do not carry the baby box with a baby inside it’ ; .
h)“WARNING: Do not spray antibacterial or other similar cleaning materials or use fragrance solutions on the baby box or mattress’ ; and
i)”WARNING: Do not place the baby box near naked flames or sources of heat”.
